For those of you who have had photos taking whilst on your beautiful wedding day then you may be familiar with the excellent Shaun Rooney! We recently chatted to Shaun and asked him various questions about the experience of working at Rainhill Hall for wedding ceremonies – see below to read what Shaun had to say!
- How do you find shooting at Rainhill Hall Hotel overall?
“I have photographed weddings at Rainhill Hall multiple times, and I must say it’s one of the easiest and most enjoyable venues to shoot at. From the stunning flower wall in the chapel to the hidden garden within the grounds, Rainhill Hall has so many hidden gems that work beautifully for photography.“
- What parts of the venue worked especially well for photos?
“I’m a massive fan of the flower wall in the chapel . I don’t know many venues that have such a unique feature like that. At the same time, the outdoor weddings are just as magical and offer a completely different atmosphere for photos.”
- Do you manage to get a good mix of candid and posed shots at Rainhill Hall?
“I’m known for being a natural photographer, focusing more on genuine moments rather than overly posed images. Rainhill Hall is perfect for this, as you can capture plenty of candid moments on the balcony during the cocktail reception or around the beautiful bar in the main house.”
- Was there a favourite moment from any of the days you’ve shot at Rainhill Hall that stood out to you?
“One thing that always stands out to me is the professionalism of the staff at Rainhill Hall. They truly can’t do enough for the bride and groom.”
- Are the guests easy to photograph and work with?
“Yes, I take a lot of pride in my crowd work and making sure people are comfortable while following instructions. That being said, if there’s a toastmaster on site, the day always runs that little bit smoother.”
- How did the indoor spaces photograph compared to the outdoor areas?
“The indoor and outdoor spaces photograph very differently, which is actually a great thing. No couple wants every image to look the same, and both settings complement each other perfectly throughout the wedding gallery.”
- Is there a particular backdrop or room you enjoyed using most?
“I personally love using the main house as a backdrop for family photos.
The old tree works perfectly for bridesmaid and groomsmen photographs.
For newlywed portraits, I like to use a mixture of the main house driveway and the hidden garden to keep the gallery feeling fresh and varied.”
- Do you think the atmosphere of the venue comes through well in the photos?
“There’s nothing better than a full dance floor at Rainhill Hall. With the right DJ in that room, the party can go all night long. Most weddings I’ve photographed there have had packed dance floors with loads of energy, which always makes for incredible evening photos.”
